Earlier, when OMR sheets were introduced, they were typically printed on thick paper with a special color and special OMR printing machines. These machines were installed at selected places and everyone used to buy OMR sheets from these selected places. Now the story is simple and different. OMR Sheets can be printed utilizing Laser printing, Rezograph, photocopy or Offset printing for Black and White OMR Sheets. Inkjet Printing, Color laser Printing and Offset printing can be utilized for shading OMR Sheet printing. You can do printing freely utilizing your own home laser or inkjet printer or your office rezograph or copier machine or you can get it offset printed at your closest offset printing firm.
Following is a modular description of the various methods adopted for printing OMR sheets. However, in any method of printing that is adopted, there are some guidelines that must be followed.
Use the design source file of the OMR sheet design for printing as traded by the software.
The PDF file should be used for printing only if CDR/source file of OMR Answer Sheet Design format or CorelDraw software is not available.
Avoid printing by using the scanned image of the master printout of the OMR Sheet.
OMR Sheet printing can be printed using a Black & White Laser Printer.
Rezograph or digital copier printer available in the office can also be used.
Inkjet printer or colour laser printer can be used to print coloured OMR sheets.
Check whether the inkjet printer is printing without smudging or blotting.
The printer page layout must be A4 size. Generally the default setting of page in printer is ‘Letter’ change the setting to A4.
Check if there is any page scaling and also check 'fit to page' reduction in size setting.
The printing of OMR sheet can also be made through Offset printing.
Offset printing can be used for both colour and black & white OMR sheet.
Only print using Plates. DO NOT print using tracing sheet or master.
Use the CorelDraw file to make plates. Avoid printing from PDF.
While cutting the sheet after printing, all pieces should be of equal size.
Use photocopies only if the machine used to take photocopy is in good condition and it is giving accurate results without any distortion.
The photocopier can only be used when it giving good quality photocopies.
Size of photocopy should match with the original OMR sheet design.
Please make sure that the Index points are printed solid black and also make sure that the bubbles are and index points are free from black dust or line.
